Info:
Ed Kavanagh’s new 18-track CD Weaving the Wind: Music from Newfoundland Performed on Celtic Harp combines one of the world’s most ancient and beautiful instruments with some exquisite melodies from the island of Newfoundland. Well-known pieces like "Let Me Fish Off Cape St. Mary’s" and "The Cliffs of Baccalieu" are showcased alongside more recent tunes by Newfoundland composers Emile Benoit, Rufus Guinchard, and Dave Panting. There are also five original pieces by Ed.
Joining Ed on the CD are some of Newfoundland’s finest musicians: Christina Smith on cello; Gerry Strong on wooden flute and whistle; Dave Panting on guitar, bass and mandolin; Fergus O’Byrne on bodhran; Rick Hollett on accordion and flute; Rob Brown on uilleann pipes; Michelle Brophy on wooden flute; and Dan Rubin on violin, viola, bouzouki, guitar, and mandolin.
Produced by Dan Rubin and Ed Kavanagh, this is the first Celtic harp album devoted entirely to music from Newfoundland.
